DAY 01: DHAKA – KANDY

Meet and assist on arrival at the airport by our travels representative. Transfer from airport to Kandy. Overnight stay at Hotel in Kandy.

DAY 02: KANDY CITY TOUR – TEMPLE OF TOOTH- BOTANICAL GARDEN

Kandy City: Kandy (UNESCO World Heritage site), is the Hill Capital of Sri Lanka, locally referred to as “Nuwara” meaning The Great City, the most scenic ancient city in the country and the only one that borders a natural reserve – the UdawatteKele famous for its avifauna. Nestled in the highlands, not only does its rich historical significance make “Nuwara” a popular tourist destination, but also the many shops displaying precious and semi-precious stones, skillfully crafted jewellery, handicrafts, colourful batiks and silks, and local food add an unforgettable flavour to this beautiful city.Temple of the Tooth: Sri DaladaMaligawa as its known locally or The Temple of the Tooth is one of the most sacred & famous Buddhist sites, not just in Sri Lanka but also in the religion worldwide. The spectacular 17th-century temple took nearly a hundred years to construct from 1687 to 1782 and houses the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha. Rituals are performed daily at 04:30, 10:30 and 6:30 p.m. The sacred square and old city centre within the temple complex contain the four shrines of the Gods Vishnu, Natha, Kataragama and the Goddess Pattini and many historical buildings and museums. The temple is host to one of Asia’s most celebrated festivals, The “Esala” procession, held during the month of July/August around the Full Moon. The casket of the tooth relic is paraded through the streets on the back of a tusked elephant in a grand procession followed by several traditional dancers, drummers and torch bearers accompanied by over a hundred beautifully costumed elephants. Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens: Just outside the Kandy city, the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens offer a welcome respite from the bustle. Covering over 600,000 square metres, the park was originally created exclusively for Kandyan royalty but was transformed into a botanical garden by the British. There are thousands of large, mature trees, many with unusual-looking exotic blooms and fruits, an orchid house and a spice garden to investigate.  The garden has a wonderful collection of over 4,000 species of indigenous and foreign plants. DAY 03: KANDY CITY TOUR WITH PINWALA ELEPHENT ORPHANAGE

After having breakfast Visit Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage As you enter the 25-acre coconut property, do not be surprised to witness baby elephants being bottle fed or moving around freely causing absolutely no harm to anyone. It is rightly a sincere sight to observe how these gentle giants – orphaned and sometimes three-legged – are taken care of since 1975 at Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Up to date, over 20 calves have been born here, and it is surprising to hear that some of its inmates have even seen their grandchildren during the past few decades! Watch as they feed at 9:15 am, 1:15 pm & 5:00 pm and take a river bath twice a day at 10:00 am & 2:00 pm respectively for an experience that could never be felt anywhere else on earth. City shopping tour of Colombo: The throbbing metropolis, Colombo – located in the West – is not only the country’s commercial capital but also the turbine that impels above 50% of the national GDP flanking Colombo’s fancy urban development effort. Drive along the clean streets edging the crystal white Race Course – horse racing hub in 1893 & World War II airstrip – furnished today with lavish clothing, food & tea boutiques. Meanwhile, ride to Pettah& tune into the Floating Market – an offbeat shopping experience – or feel the buzz surrounding the upcoming inspiration, the Colombo Port City – an offshore city – featuring parks, commercial complexes & even an F1 track! Head along BauddhalokaMawatha towards ‘Arcade’ facing a historic waypost, the Independence Square. Every designer boutique, top-notch cuisine outlet, and even the ‘walk-over fish tank’, have revamped this colonial masterpiece into one of the trendiest shopping and hangout zones in Sri Lanka. Have a chilled beer at the Dutch Hospital while gazing through fancy windows showcasing the best fashion, jewellery& handicraft brands. Smell the scent of incense while listening to the chiming bells of Gangarama temple. Or, jazz up to Colombo’s nightlife spiced by nightclubs & casinos that borderline its bustle. If you’re lucky, head into an exhibition at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) before swaying your head to an opera or play at NelumPokuna that should just drive your day into perfection!

Day- 04: COLOMBO – DHAKA

Transfer from Colombo to Airport for departure.
